The Guardian detailed how Inter were willing to pay a record fee for a British player in order to sign Bale, who memorably scored a hat-trick against theNerazzurri at San Siro this season, before giving Maicon a torrid time in the return Champions League fixture at White Hart Lane.
The report regarding Inter's interest in Bale was published on Thursday evening but the Italian champions wasted little time in rejecting suggestions that president Massimo Moratti had decided to make Bale his key acquisition at the end of the season.
"It is incorrect," Inter chief executive officer Paolillo told Bloomberg. "It's not true."
Tottenham have repeatedly maintained that they have no interest in selling Bale, who over the past 12 months has been one of the leading players in the Premier League.
